Two teens accused in the violent murder of a Domino’s Pizza driver will stand trial as adults.
Sixteen year olds Shane Hughes and Rendell Brown’s case has moved on to Criminal District Court, both charged with the first degree murder of Richard “Chris” Yeager.
”Good. Good. Good. Good. They need to go for life,” says GrandPre’s bartender Will Bennett.
“It shows they are taking it serious,” says neighbor Jonathon Jameson. “It makes you feel they’re not going to be getting out in five years.”
Police are still looking for Brown’s younger brother Rajean who they’ve linked to being at the scene of the crime.
“They didn’t shoot him one time they shot him several times,” says Bennett. “That was uncalled for.”
Jameson says not all intentions of curious people who stop by the crime scene have been good, “We had some people for gore-ification, looking for the death spot and I chased them away.”
GrandPre’s across from Louis Armstrong Park where Yeager did karaoke is throwing a fundraiser Wednesday (Oct. 1st) at 7pm to help his family with sudden expenses.
“He was just a very kind gentle person did not deserve to have to go that way,” says Bennett.
Mid-city Domino’s continues donating half their sales to Yeager’s family thru Sunday (Sept. 28th)
A memorial service is planned for the following Monday evening (Oct. 6th) put on by neighbors who never even knew Yeager.
“It’s the first time I’ve ever planned a memorial,” says Jameson.
The two teens, plus the one still at large are also facing juvenile charges in connection with a violent carjacking in uptown.
