Three Mandeville teens accused of burning LGBTQ flag

MANDEVILLE, La. (WGNO) — St. Tammany Parish officers arrested three Mandeville teens for allegedly stealing and burning a woman’s LGBTQ flag.

According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, a woman reported that her LGBTQ flag was “stolen from her house” and “burned in the middle of the roadway at the intersection of Soult Street and Preval Street” on Sunday, May 26.

STPSO detectives arrested the three teens, two 15-year-olds and one 14-year-old, after receiving footage of the trio burning the flag while using derogatory language.

According to the STPSO, the teens were released from custody to their parents under specific custodial agreements for court appearances for their charges.

The teens face three misdemeanors, which include theft less than $1,000, criminal damage to property and hate crimes.
