NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Three arrests have been made after a woman was shot and killed in the French Quarter over the weekend.
On Sunday, June 30 at 4:36 a.m., New Orleans police said they were called to the scene of a shooting at the corner of Royal and St. Peter streets, where they found a woman, identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office as 43-year-old Kristie Thibodaux, inside of a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.
She was declared dead on the scene.
An investigation led NOPD homicide detectives to 17-year-old Jerben Albarec,19-year-old Joshua Aviala-Bonifacio and an unidentified 15-year-old boy.
Arrest warrants were issued for the suspects. In collaboration with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police and the FBI New Orleans Violent Crime Task Force, they were taken into custody and booked on one count each of second-degree murder and for attempted armed robbery.
Detectives determined that the fatal shooting happened as the result of an attempted armed robbery.
