UPDATE (KTVE/KARD) — On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at approximately midnight, Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting in the area of Bentley and Montgomery. Upon arrival, deputies located three teenage male victims.

According to deputies, two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds. Another victim was transported to the Morehouse General Hospital where he died from his injuries.

A fourth victim was not injured and mentioned they fled the scene as soon as shots were fired. Authorities began an investigation of the shooting and identified 18-year-old Errigan Rainwater as a suspect.

Deputies made contact with Rainwater and requested him to come to the sheriff’s office for questioning. During questioning, Rainwater advised deputies that he fired a semi-automatic .22 rifle, killing the three victims.

Authorities also identified JaQuarius O. Givens as a suspect and advised Givens to come to the sheriff’s office for questioning. According to Givens, he fired a semi-automatic .223 rifle, killing the three victims. Givens also led deputies to the area he disposed of his firearm in the wooded area on Bentley Street.

At the scene of the shooting, investigators noticed there weren’t shell casings. After investigating the scene, deputies went on to identify 38-year-old John L. Rabun as the third suspect in the shooting. According to authorities, Rabun failed to give investigators any information about the fatal shooting when he was asked.

Rabun allegedly took the shell casings from the scene and hid them from law enforcement. During questioning, Rabun gave the shell casings to authorities and was placed under arrest.

Rabun was charged with Obstruction of Justice. Rainwater was charged with Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm, three counts of First Degree Murder, and Attempted First Degree Murder. Givens was charged with three counts of First Degree Murder and Attempted First Degree Murder.


UPDATE (KTVE/KARD) — On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office released information about arrests in the Bastrop triple homicide.

Deputies arrested the following people:

  • Jaquarius Givens is charged with 3 Counts of First Degree Murder and 1 Count of Attempted First Degree Murder.

UPDATE (KTVE/KARD) — According to Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy James Mardis, deputies have booked two suspects into custody. Another suspect is expected to be taken into custody this evening. As of 5:24 PM, deputies have not released any suspects’ identities or mugshots.

BASTROP, La. (KTVE/KARD) — According to Morehouse Parish Chief Deputy James Mardis, three teenagers are dead after an early morning shooting on Bentley Street in Bastrop, La. The shooting happened on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, around 12:30 AM.

According to authorities, two of the teenagers were pronounced dead at the scene and one teenager was pronounced dead at Morehouse General Hospital. As of now, there is limited information about the shooting and the identification of the possible suspect.
