Washington Parish sergeant in ‘good spirits’ following crash involving impaired driver

WASHINGTON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Sergeant John O’Hern, who was on-duty when he was struck by an impaired driver May 23, has made progress in his recovery.

O’Hern suffered numerous injuries from Thursday’s incident, such as a dislocated femur and shattered pelvis.

According to the WPSO Facebook page, O’Hern had hip surgery that went “perfectly according to plan.” The post mentioned that he “remains in good spirits and is very grateful.”

It was reported that O’Hern was able to get up and walk down the hallway.

O’Hern and his wife, Lacie, said they appreciate the prayers and support that they have received during this time.
