Woman arrested after Covington traffic stop, drug bust

COVINGTON, La. (WGNO) — A woman was arrested following a traffic stop and drug bust in Covington on Tuesday, March 5.

The Covington Police Department reported officers pulled over a Nissan on Taylor Street near 26th avenue for a traffic violation around 9 a.m.

During the stop, CPD officers said they saw a bag with what allegedly appeared to be more than 200 Adderall pills near a 1-year-old child inside the car.

According to the CPD, it was later discovered “that the Adderall pills were counterfeit and tested positive for containing Fentanyl.”

The driver, identified by the CPD as 30-year-old Jacqueline Davenport, was arrested and faces charges of possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II (112 grams of fentanyl), possession of Schedule I (marijuana), false representation of a controlled dangerous substance, controlled dangerous substances in the presence of persons under 17 and traffic offenses.
