Woman’s death deemed suspicious in Tangipahoa Parish

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Deputies with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of a Ponchatoula woman, who was reportedly found covered in blood inside a home on Wednesday, March 20.

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards said deputies responded to a medical call at a home on Meadow Wood Drive around 9 p.m.

At the scene, deputies said they found a woman, identified by the TPSO as 45-year-old Lisa Hernandez, lying between a dresser and her bed. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Edwards, “At this time investigators are unable to determine a cause of death, however, they are investigating the incident as a homicide pending an autopsy.”

The TPSO did not release any additional information.
