NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are selling their French Quarter mansion and it’s unclear if the power couple will buy another home in New Orleans. TMZ reports that the couple bought their 5 bedroom, 3.2 bathroom home after hurricane Katrina and vowed that they would remain in the community.
Pitt’s agent’s office said, “Yes they are letting go of this property and will look for something more off the beaten path down the road. In the meantime, they remain committed to, and infatuated as ever with the city of New Orleans, and will continue to focus on growth in the lower 9th through the Make It Right Foundation.”
Real estate records show the renovated historic home on Governor Nicholls Street is listed at $6.5 million. The celebrity couple purchased it in December 2006 for $3.5 million. As for their next move, Brad and Angelina’s representatives would not say if they plan on buying another home in the New Orleans area. Potential buyers will have to prove they can afford the 1830’s masonry mansion. Luxury features include a private patio with a pool, Venetian plastered walls and a chef’s gourmet kitchen with top of the line appliances. Real estate broker Jon Huffman says the price tag works out to $850 per square foot, which he says is much higher than the current French Quarter average of $500 per square foot.
