NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — In the words of Bryan Christopher Williams, also known as “Birdman,” “We On Fire.”

It was announced on Wednesday, May 1 that Birdman and Cash Money Millionaires will be celebrating 30 years in the music industry at the 30th Annual Essence Festival.

The record label “took over for the ’99 and the 2000s” with New Orleans-born and bred members such as Lil’ Wayne, Juvenile, B.G., Turk, Birdman and Mannie Fresh.

Throughout the years, the record label has produced several artists such as DJ Khaled, Drake, Busta Rhymes, Bow Wow, Curren$y, Gotti Chrina Milian and have released top songs such as “Big Tymers,” “Lollipop,” “Nice for What” and “Slow Motion.”

On Feb. 6, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell presented Birman and his brother Ronald Williams “Slim” with keys to the city as an act of gratitude for the impact that they have had on the city.

Essence Fest 2024 is set to happen Memorial Day weekend, July 4 to July 7 with day time events happening at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and concerts happening at the Caesars Superdome.

Festival officials said tickets are currently on sale.
