Many members of the Louisiana film industry are crying foul after Governor Bobby Jindal signed a bill Friday that capped tax incentives on film productions at $180 million.

Will French of the Louisiana Film & Entertainment Association called the tax credits “a catastrophic mess,” and warned that the state’s emerging film industry could all go up in smoke.

The Louisiana Film & Entertainment Association has promised to challenge parts of the law in court.

“Jurassic World” hits the $1 billion mark

The Hollywood South-shot film is making big news!

The Universal mega-hit crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide to become the fastest film to do so in history, according to the studio. And it took only 13 days! The dino flick took the fastest to a billion title from another Universal film, Furious 7, which broke $1 billion in 17 days earlier in the year.

Jurassic World also kept the top spot at the box office for the second weekend in a row  beating Pixar’s latest animation flick Inside Out.This marks the first time Disney has lost the number 1 spot on an opening weekend since 1995.

At the Prytania

The Prytania Theatre took in $40 thousand over the past 10 days thanks to Jurassic World.

The dinosaur blockbuster will have to share that screen with some classic family films in the coming  weekends.
