Celebrate the 50th anniversary of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! along with Charlie Brown, Linus and the rest of the Peanuts gang tonight at 7 p.m., right here on WGNO.
Almost 50 years ago to the day, on October 27, 1966, Charles Schulz’s characters first graced the television screen in their beloved Halloween episode. Linus, if you’re unfamiliar, is Charlie Brown’s best friend and is convinced the Great Pumpkin will descend on the pumpkin patch to deliver toys to all the good boys and girls.
While the gang enjoys trick-or-treating (Charlie Brown gets a rock) and a Halloween party at Violet’s house, Sally chooses to stick with Linus and await the Great Pumpkin, only to find out (SPOILER ALERT) that it doesn’t show up.
If you’re looking for a bit of nostalgia, or something a bit more family friendly than the presidential debates airing at 8 p.m. (also here on WGNO), join us in the pumpkin patch with Linus as we wait to see if the Great Pumpkin just happens to appear this year.
