NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – This mom might just be one of the coolest moms around! Mynnye Shaw surprised her 17-year old son, Dylani Barbarin with the prom date of his dreams.
Shaw said that since her son’s 16th birthday he’s been asking to meet Parker McKenna Posey who played Katie on the hit TV show, “My Wife and Kids”. So what did this mom do?
She decided to contact the actress on Twitter. She tweeted the young star, “Parker, my son would love to take you to his senior prom. What do I have to do to make that happen?”
Later that night Shaw said that she received a private message on Twitter from Parker with the e-mail address to her booking agent. She never told her son that the actress responded. They accepted, so Shaw flew the actress in and got her a hotel room for the weekend.
Dylani and Parker went to his senior prom at Warren Easton High School last weekend and had a night to remember. The actress had never been to New Orleans and stayed an extra day to take in the sights with Dylani. Mom said the two continue to keep in contact through text messaging. Mom is very happy and grateful to Parker for making her son’s dream come true.
