NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – There was another meeting of Carnival royalty on Lundi Gras, but not at Spanish Plaze. This meeting happened at a retirement community on the West Bank.
If you can believe it, the oldest living Rex and the oldest living Zulu King met at Woldenberg Village.
John Phillips and Arthur Vigne toasted each other and told stories about their reigns.
Vigne said, “I thank you and to ride in any parade during Mardi Gras is an honor, and this here this evening is a big honor.”
John Philips was Rex in 1983 and Arthur Vigne was the Zulu King in 1988.
