(New Orleans) WGNO – Businessman Frank Scurlock describes himself as a combination Walt Disney, Steve Jobs, and Michael Jackson. He’s all about having fun, and helping others do that too.
The serial entrepreneur is known for his out-of-this-world projects such as transforming a car into a space shuttle, complete with take-off smoke and audio from famous astronauts. One day it will be used as a teaching vehicle at schools.
He’s also responsible for the skywriting you’ve probably heard about, or seen in the skies above the city.
His latest crazy concept was born just a few days ago. He’s turning a retired Greyhound tour bus into a mobile spa, complete with eight relaxation stations, and calling it “The Relaxation Bus.”
When WGNO Reporter Stephanie Oswald asked him how he came up with the idea, he told her, “The bus originally had the word ‘adventure’ written on the outside and I said ‘What can I do with this?’”
The bus will not be on the Jazz Fest grounds, but it will be all around the area, with the goal of helping festival-goers relax. Scurlock says he’s been to many Jazz Fests, and the crowds and the heat can cause major health problems.
“I see it out there, I see people dropping in medical emergencies, I hear these whistles of the medical staff trying to get through crowds and I realized somebody needs to do something about relaxing people at jazz fest,” says Scurlock.
He’s already making plans for phase two, when a hot tub and a steam room will be added to the wheeled pampering station.
