Your guide to letting the good times roll at the 2024 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — It’s festival season in New Orleans, and that means it’s almost time for the 2024 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

The fest will take place on April 25, 26, 27 and 28, and May 2, 3, 4 and 5, at the Fair Grounds Race Course at 1751 Gentilly Blvd. An additional day for the festivities was announced in September 2023.

This year’s poster was revealed on March 26 and features the ’60s pop girl group The Dixie Cups.

As New Orleanians and tourists alike prepare for the food, music and fun, WGNO has your guide to this year’s Jazz Fest.

Music

Festival organizers announced in November 2023 that The Rolling Stones will perform at this year’s fest. Attendees can expect a music lineup featuring a wide variety of artists, some including:

Another highly anticipated part of Jazz Fest is the food. According to the Jazz Fest website, this year’s food lineup includes classic favorites like crawfish bread and Crawfish Monica, and an array of drinks including strawberry lemonade and Rosemint Herbal Iced Tea. Things to Know

• Jazz Fest is cashless.
  • According to the website, accepted forms of payment will include credit cards, debit cards, prepaid cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay.
  • Cash exchange locations will be available for festivalgoers to exchange cash for a prepaid card to be used at the festival.
• Ticket Prices:
  • One-day ticket prices start at $95 for an advance ticket and $105 for gate price.
  • Four-day ticket prices start at $320 for the first weekend and three-day tickets for the second weekend start at $270.

• What to Wear:
  • According to the Jazz Fest website, it is recommended to wear cool, unrestrictive clothing, sunglasses and comfortable shoes. They also suggest packing sunscreen and a hat.
• Getting Around:
  • A map of the fest can be found on the Jazz Fest website.
  • Officials with the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority announced it is making minor adjustments to service during the event weekend.
    • Streetcar lines 47 and 48 will offer service from the Central Business District to the Circle at City Park near the Fair Grounds. RTA officials said bus service will be available for those who normally catch streetcar line 47 from Carrollton Avenue and Canal Street.
    • RTA officials also said, “bus service for the 91 – Jackson/Esplanade route will be modified to account for heavy passenger demands near the festival location as buses become available.”

• Parking:
  • According to the website, parking onsite is only available for select VIP packages.
  • The Jazz Fest website states accessible spaces for people with disabilities are sold at the gate for $50 on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Limited free bicycle parking will be available at the Gentilly Boulevard and Sauvage Street pedestrian gates, according to the festival website.
  • Organizers note, “Parking in the surrounding neighborhood is restricted to residents only. Patrons are encouraged to use alternative modes of travel, such as Jazz Fest Express (The Official Jazz Fest Shuttle), public transportation, carpools and bicycles.”
  • Cabrini High School is offering parking in its lot from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for $60 per day, according to the Cabrini website.
