Hammond Police Chief Fired

Chief Roddy Devall

Hammond, La. -(WGNO)- Hammond’s Police Chief Roddy Devall was fired Monday morning by Mayor Pete Penepinto.

Devall was fired after a lengthy investigation by the City’s Civil Service Board into his handling of the arrest of Hammond Police Officer last year in which a press release was issued from the department, listing the address of the officer involved.

Devall has vacated his office and turned in his city police unit.

Assistant Chief Tommy Corkern will act as head of the department on an interim basis.

Devall’s attorney Ron Macaluso says that he will file an appeal in the termination case.
