Deputy shot in 2012 to get kidney from a stranger, another deputy

COVINGTON, LA (WGNO) — In 2012, Jason Triche was one of of four St. John deputies who were shot during an ambush and gun battle at a trailer park in LaPlace.  Jason was one of two deputies who survived.

His recovery included a list of health issues.  Now he needs a kidney transplant.

Upon hearing of Jason’s need, a deputy with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office wanted to help.  Turns out, he’s a match, and the transplant will happen next Monday, July11.

What’s more, he went into the process having never met Jason.  According to the STPSO, the deputy simply wanted to help, “his brother in blue.”

If you want to find out who this deputy is, so do we.  Tomorrow, July 8, the deputy will speak with reporters at the Saint Tammany Parish Justice Center.  Stick with digital-staging.wgno.com for updates!
