NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – March is National Kidney Month and the National Kidney Foundation is telling everyone to not only get your kidneys checked but, also to also consider becoming a donor.
Sarah Rudolph and Carly Fulmer joined us today at the Twist Bar. They’ve got a very unique story. They’re praise and worship artists who make beautiful music together, but also, Carly is a kidney recipient, and Sarah is her donor. We asked them how did it all come about?
Fulmer says, “We’ve known each other for a couple of years, and we were on a trip together about a year before I found out that I was put on the national transplant list. And during this trip, we were joking around, about how many times she needed to go to the restroom, and things like that and she said, one day I just wish I could just give you a kidney and it kinda unfolded from there. The Lord provided for us.”
We asked Rudolph if she was ever hesitant or afraid to donate her kidney and she told us, “No, actually I knew the second I found out I prayed about it. I felt a peace automatically, I love Carly, and why not, and my mom always taught me to share.”
The National Kidney Foundation suggest you visit kidney.org and you can find out all the information about not only having healthy kidneys but also being a donor.
