New Orleans has been smoke-free for 1 year

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Today New Orleans is celebrating one year of being smoke-free.

On this day last year, the city passed a ban on smoking in public places including bars and casinos.

City leaders say over the last year indoor pollution levels have dropped 96 percent and air quality in some locations has gone from “hazardous” to “good.”

The Smoke-Free New Orleans Coalition held a second line through the French Quarter Friday morning to celebrate.
