NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Guess what! New Orleans is one of the fattest and laziest cities in the United States, that’s of course, according to Roadsnacks.net. They looked at obesity rates, unemployment rates, the number of fast-food restaurants per capita and geo-location Tweets that mention #obese or #lazy.

New Orleans ranked 5th on the list. Researchers noted that they counted places within the city’s border as well as the surrounding area.

Who took the top spots?

  1. Hagerstown, MD
  2. Dayton, OH
  3. Orlando, FL
  4. Atlanta, GA
  5. New Orleans, LA
  6. Mobile, AL
  7. Detroit, MI
  8. Memphis, TN
  9. Wilmington, DE
  10. Greenville, SC

According to the study, New Orleans ranked 16th out of major US cities for high obesity rates. Saying a third of its residents are obese.

More than 7% of New Orleans residents are out of work, according to the researchers and many people on Twitter have commented on how the southern food (not even fast food), was making them fat.
