BATON ROUGE — Another travel-related Zika case has been reported in Louisiana bringing the number of cases to seven for the state. The Louisiana Department of Health’s Public Health Laboratory confirmed that a person who travelled to a region in the midst of a Zika outbreak tested positive for the viral infection.
There have been no confirmed cases of local transmission within Louisiana or in the rest of the 50 states.
The Department of Health said the person began showing symptoms of the Zika virus after they returned to Louisiana.
