KENNER, La. (WGNO)- Officials from the AVP pro beach volleyball tour, the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and the City of Kenner, along with Olympic volleyball gold medalists and AVP tour members, Kerri Walsh Jennings and Phil Dalhausser will be among the participants in Monday’s exciting announcement that this year’s tour begins May 21-24 in the City of Kenner.

The announcement takes place at Coconut Beach, the largest man-made sand volleyball complex in the United States.

Owner of Coconut Beach, Michael Drury said, “This is very exciting, especially since it’s the first stop.  It’s big for our city but also for the athletes.  They need this to qualify for the Olympic Summer Games in Rio in 2016.”

“We are pleased that AVP managing partner Donald Sun has chosen to include Kenner on the AVP tour and excited that locals will get to see this exciting sport, and some of the top athletes in the world, during the tournament in May,” Kenner Mayor Michael Yenni said.
