NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – A family dispute in Tennessee over the Thanksgiving holidays led to the arrest of a Baton Rouge man this week after he allegedly murdered and dismembered his parents.

Twenty-eight year old Joel Michael Guy, Jr., was arrested at his home in Baton Rouge Tuesday after police in Tennessee found the remains of his parents in their Knoxville home.

According to an FBI press release detailing the allegations, Joel Guy, Jr. traveled home to visit his parents, Lisa Guy and Joel Guy, Sr., for Thanksgiving.

After a dispute over money, Joel Guy, Jr. allegedly killed his parents, dismembered their bodies, and attempted to dispose of the remains using a “homemade acid-based solution.”

After the murders, Joel Guy, Jr. returned to his home in Baton Rouge, where he was arrested.

He is currently being held in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and is awaiting extradition to Knox County where he will stand trial for the two counts of first-degree murder, according to the FBI.
