Bodies pulled from plane wreckage in Lake Pontchartrain

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The bodies of the two people who were missing after a plane crashed this weekend in Lake Pontchartrain were found inside the plane this morning.

Authorities said the two bodies couldn’t be seen from above the water because the lake is so murky, but once the wreckage was pulled from the lake, they found the two bodies inside.

The victims who died in the plane crash have not been identified.

The small Cessna crashed near the Lakefront Airport runway about 8:20 p.m. Saturday.

Three people were inside the plane at the time. A woman was rescued from the scene and taken to a local hospital.

The bodies of the pilot and the other passenger were found inside the plane this morning.

NOPD and NOFD work to pull the crashed plane from Lake Pontchartrain Tuesday morning.
