BILOXI, Miss. (WGNO) – The stars of the new “Deepwater Horizon” movie about the 2010 BP oil spill graced New Orleans this week with a red carpet premiere. Following the premiere at the Orpheum Theatre, Kurt Russell, Kate Hudson and Director Peter Berg visited Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi for a special advance screening of the film.

The film opens in theaters Sept. 30.

In addition to the screening, Russell, Hudson and Berg spent time touring the base, meeting troops and their families along with top-ranking military officials. They also got an up close view WC-130J aircraft.

The talent and filmmakers selected the base to show support for those who serve in the Gulf region, a region that was deeply affected by Hurricane Katrina and the Deepwater Horizon tragedy.
