Don’t miss out on catching cabbages! Irish Channel parade route changes!

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)- Before you map out, where you want to be for the Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Parade, you must know that the parade route is changing this year. News with a Twist Reporter Kenny Lopez breaks down the changes!

Listen up laddies and lassies. If you’re heading to the Irish Channel parade, you best know where to go!

“We will not go down St. Charles Avenue.  We will go down Napoleon Avenue and Magazine Street, and disband at Jackson Avenue and Magazine Street,” Ronnie Burke the Vice-President of the Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Club said.

Burke said it was necessary for them to change their annual parade’s route due to construction on Louisiana Avenue.

“This year the floats can’t make the turns on Louisiana Avenue because of the construction, so we had to go somewhere else for this year,” he said.

To clarify, the parade will start at Tipitina’s on the corner of Tchoupitoulas Street and Napoleon Avenue, and then head all the way down Magazine Street until they hit Jackson Avenue.

You don’t want to miss out on catching cabbages, all the other vegetables, and beads because that would just be unlucky.

“We don’t want you to miss out,” Burke said.

This year’s parade route will be a little shorter, but a little parade route change won’t mess up their jigginess!
