NEW ORLEANS – Traffic is flowing again after a power line came down across I-10 this morning.

Entergy says a car hit a power pole causing a brief outage and major traffic backups.

Jackie Vaughn was eastbound on I-10 about to take the Howard exit when she saw something heading right towards her car.

“The line just immediately started flowing across the vehicles,” Vaughn said. “I slowed down because I didn’t want to run into anyone or have them run into me.”

Vaughn eventually heard a loud pop. The line hit her SUV and scrapped across the length of it.

“A little bit more and it could have been a different conversation or no conversation,” Vaughn said. “I feel blessed. I’m more than blessed.”

Entergy spent much of the afternoon fixing the powerpole.

A spokesperson said about 2,000 people were without power for roughly a half-a-hour.
