HARVEY – An early morning fire has heavily damaged a home in the 1900 block of Bayou Oaks Drive in Harvey.

The second floor of the home was almost completely destroyed by the blaze, which started around 4:30 a.m.

Three people who were in the home at the time of the fire have all been taken to the hospital and are suffering from smoke inhalation, according to Capt. Michael McAuliffe.

At least one dog died in the blaze, McAuliffe said.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Firefighters working to completely extinguish the flames are in danger of the structure collapsing after the fire damaged several key structural components.
