COVINGTON, La. (WGNO) – A Florida woman led deputies on a high-speed chase this morning after she went into the Covington Kia Dealership, pretended to be a manager and started “firing” employees.
According to a news release from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded about 9 a.m. to the Kia Dealership, where 21-year-old Mila Ellis was said to be acting erratic.
Ellis, of Hialeah, Florida, went into the business, pretended she was a manager and started to fire people. Employees called the sheriff’s office in response to her behavior.
Deputies asked Ellis to leave the business and to not return. As she was leaving, the sheriff’s office says, deputies ran the license plate and found that the Honda Accord she was driving was reported stolen from Broward County, Florida.
When deputies tried to stop Ellis, she placed her vehicle in reverse, tried to run over a deputy, then fled on I-12 toward Slidell.
Ellis rammed two police vehicles during the chase, which ended on Airport Road in Slidell after Ellis drove into a ditch.
Ellis was arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on two counts of aggravated criminal damage, aggravated flight from an officer, attempted murder of a police officer, possession of stolen property and disturbing the peace.
