Football foodies satisfy their stomachs, but are left hungry for a Saints win

New Orleans (WGNO) – Is there such a thing as a “football foodie?” You bet.

Saints fans are waking up with their eyes on the next preseason faceoff against the New England Patriots, Saturday, August 22, at the Superdome.

Meanwhile, the crowd at Finn McCool’s Irish Pub in Mid-City enjoyed food truck fare during the preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.

While the Saints and Ravens battled it out, fans decked out in black and gold stuffed their faces with all kinds of burgers and other goodies from multiple food trucks: Burgers Ya Heard, Frencheeze and Grilling and Shilling. The MoPho off-shoot restaurant, Rum and the Lash, located in Finn McCool’s pub kitchen, also was busy feeding the fans.

Patrons filled up on specialty burgers, such as the Burga-laya from Burgers Ya Heard! food truck. That one is topped with jambalaya rice and crispy Andouille sausage strips!

Diners also were raving about the crispy roasted brussels sprouts with citrus and spicy mayonnaise from Rum and the Lash.

Fans of all ages cleaned their plates and gave the food trucks high scores, but as for the Saints?

Many were fearful of predicting a winning season. Most chose not to make a bet, but said they weren’t giving up.
