TERRYTOWN, La. (WGNO) – A 47-year-old Jefferson Parish sheriff’s sergeant was found dead Monday in a Terrytown parking lot.

Col. John Fortunato, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said Tracey L. Marshall was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was discovered sitting in the driver’s seat of a 2010 Ford pick-up truck.

Deputies received a call around 9:45 a.m. Monday that a pick-up truck in a parking lot in the 2300 block of Ashley Drive had a window broken out and hair was hanging out the window.

Crime scene technicians recovered many spent shell casings in the parking lot next to Marshall’s vehicle.

Fortunato said they did not receive any calls of gunshots Monday morning, but his department did receive a report of shots Sunday night around 9:45 p.m.

Marshall was a member of the JPSO. She was a Sergeant assigned to the courts as a bailiff.

Marshall joined the JPSO in February 2005.

The investigation is ongoing.
