This Saturday, number one ranked LSU will take on the number two ranked Alabama, in Alabama.
It’s a rivalry that dates back to their first meeting, in 1895, and it’s sure to be a game you don’t want to miss. Over the years, a lot has happened to grow the rivalry. The arrival of former LSU coach Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa after winning a national championship at LSU — and after a couple years in the NFL — didn’t sit well with many Tigers fans.
Also, the circumstances surrounding this year’s game look a lot like the game in 2011 when LSU was ranked #1 and Alabama #2. The game was also in Tuscaloosa that year, and the national championship game that season was set to be played in New Orleans. After LSU won the regular season game, the two teams faced each other for a rematch for the BCS title, and the Tide won.
