Meet Ainsley from the Jefferson SPCA

Ainsley
DL-10-02-01
Female American Staffordshire mix
Birthday ~10/02/2014
38 lbs

Ainsley is a precious sweetheart picked up as a stray in early October and never claimed.

She has a heart of gold and is extremely affectionate with everyone she meets.

While at the shelter, Ainsley enjoyed playing in the play-yard pool and has been great with dogs and respectful of cats.
Ainsley has been a favorite with shelter staff and volunteers and had been to several community events where she did well and garnered attention, but once back at the shelter, she went unnoticed, her precious face lost among the others in need.

Much to our dismay, Ainsley began to lose her spark, not quite as enthusiastic in her daily interaction with others and we could see that the shelter blues were setting in.

This made it even less likely that she would be able to draw attention to potential adopters.

Thankfully, someone stepped up to foster Ainsley, and she is back to her usual bright-eyed self.

She knows “sit” and is crate and house-trained. As always, Ainsley exudes a playful, sweet, puppy-ish energy, but responds accordingly to basic training and, thanks to her dedicated foster parent, is polishing up her manners quite well.
Ainsley still sometimes jumps to greet, and she is working on that through training.

She especially loves kids and does like to say “hello” with her entire being.

However, she has been gentle enough that older children have been able to withstand the enthusiasm with which Ainsley presents herself.

This girl continues to impress us, and Ainsley met a patron at the local farmer’s market during an adoption event who was walking with a cane.

Considering her deep desire to jump to greet, Ainsley showed amazing self-restraint, and after she respectfully sniffed the cane, Ainsley doled out kisses to the lady who bent over to receive them, all the while, Ainsley somehow understanding that under no circumstances, could she jump up on her admirer.
In return for a continued commitment to her training and a home that will make her a part of the family, Ainsley shows all promise of being a dog that will remain a faithful and loving companion for the rest of her life.

Ainsley is a delightful little wiggle-butt and would fit in nicely with an active family that will appreciate her youthful and puppy-ish behavior.

Ainsley is current on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and heartworm negative.
