UPDATE:

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — It’s the twist no one saw coming when 48-year-old Demietriek Scott, also known as “Chef Scott,” returned to where he left his food truck parked, at the corner of North Derbigny and Annette streets Monday evening to let his loved ones know he is home.

It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions for the family. Earlier in the day, as the family alerted news outlets that Scott was missing, they were called to the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office to identify a body that had been discovered on France Road, near France Road Parkway.

They learned it wasn’t him, so they were holding out hope he was alive.

It turns out they were right, and WGNO was there the moment Scott reunited with his family.

Scott didn’t say exactly where he had been but did say he didn’t leave New Orleans and was taking time to himself to focus on his mental health.

“I just needed a moment/ You know what I mean. I work hard, I work almost 24 hours a day, so many days consecutively. I just got overwhelmed with just life and business and everything,” Scott said.

“For whoever knows me, made a post, called, searched, looked, thought, bought some food or whatever, thank y’all so much because I may not express it as much, but it really means so much.”
