NOPD investigates deadly hit and run in the French Quarter

NEW ORLEANS–The NOPD is searching for suspects in a deadly hit and run that happened at about 12:00 a.m. Monday on St. Louis Street near Bourbon Street.

According to investigators, officers responded to a call of a hit and run vehicle crash with injury involving a pedestrian being struck at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive adult female victim lying in front of a gray Acura sedan, in the middle of St. Louis Street. The victim was suffering from apparent injuries sustained after she was struck by another vehicle. She was pronounced dead on scene.

Detectives say that the female pedestrian appeared to be attempting to break up an altercation when she was struck by a four door vehicle driven by an unidentified female driver who intentionally backed up her vehicle striking both the victim and the Acura. The vehicle fled the scene after the crash. The vehicle will have rear end damage as a result of the crash.

The investigation into this deadly crash is ongoing.
