METAIRIE, LA – On Monday morning, the Louisiana State Police began investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian.
Deputies say a man was struck by a 2017 Ford Focus and a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, while trying to cross the interstate, on foot.
The unidentified victim suffered serious injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Both drivers were properly restrained and were not injured. Both drivers showed no signs of impairment. Toxicology samples taken from both drivers and the pedestrian will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for further analysis.
The incident happened on I-10 East near Causeway Boulevard.
Three eastbound lanes of I-10 are closed at the scene, and drivers are experiencing delays.
