NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The New Orleans Police Department has named five officers accused of not investigating more than a thousand sex crime related calls over a three year period.
The New Orleans Office of Inspector General released their findings Wednesday, which detailed several cases where officers in the Special Victims Section of the NOPD failed to file reports or follow up on leads.
In a release Thursday, NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison said that all 5 NOPD officers have been placed on administrative reassignment pending the outcome of a Public Integrity Bureau investigation.

“Our Public Integrity Bureau is working around the clock to investigate each allegation outlined in the OIG report. Based on our initial review of the findings, we believe there is enough evidence to suggest that these five officers weren’t doing the job they were charged to do. We will continue to investigate each case and will take additional disciplinary action if and when we discover violations,” Harrison said.
