NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)- There’s a giant snake lurking in a giant pothole in the Irish Channel on First & Constance Streets. It’s a fake snake, but its the neighborhood’s way of poking fun of their giant pothole problem!
News with a Twist Reporter Kenny Lopez went to check it out!
Neighbors say the snake first slithered in this giant pothole that takes up the entire block a few weeks ago. What started off as a small hole, now has grown to an entire sinkhole.
Owners of St. Vincent Supermarket on the corner are the ones who put the giant stuffed snake inside the hole as a joke. They said they wanted to bring some humor to the terrible situation! The owners say that they want the issue with the sinkhole resolved as soon as possible because business is slow because their customers can’t go around the pothole to enter the store. And….not even the garbage trucks can drive down the street to pick-up the trash, so its becoming a real issue.
The Sewerage & Water Board initially came by to fix the hole, and then neighbors said something happened with a gas pipe, causing it to break, which is now causing this huge mess!
Well, at least…this fake snake will guard the hole until something can be done!
