NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The heart of rock and roll usually beats strong at Mid-City Lanes Rock ‘n’ Bowl. It was especially strong Wednesday night, when a happy crowd donned their Doc Brown and Marty McFly costumes, danced to tunes by Huey Lewis and the News and recalled the blockbuster trilogy, “Back to the Future.”
“The ’80s were good to me,” says Rock ‘n’ Bowl owner, John Blancher, a proud ’80s dad.
Newsflash says it’s the only Huey Lewis and the News cover band in the world. Band members, who could easily be mistaken for the real deal, helped patrons rock the night away with iconic tunes, many from the movie soundtracks.
“In 1989, we were all wondering where we would be on October 21, 2015,” recalled band member Chuck Credo. He is the executive producer of “Back to the Future Night New Orleans;” all this fun was his idea.
There were several ’80s cars in the parking lot, but the two that received the most attention were actual Deloreans. Check out the news segment above to see them up close.
