NOPD: Suspect barricaded inside Seventh Ward home; stolen vehicle lead to school lockdown

NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD is working two separate situations in Gentilly and the Seventh Ward this morning.

Holy Cross Primary went on lockdown around 8 a.m. as NOPD officers swarmed the area searching for armed suspects after a stolen vehicle was located in the area. At least three people have been arrested, and that situation was brought under control by 9:30 a.m.

Earlier in the morning, U.S. Marshals and a SWAT team from the NOPD attempted to serve a warrant on a suspect in the Seventh Ward. That suspect barricaded themselves inside a home.

Officers have set up a perimeter from North Rocheblave Street to Annette Street, Annette Street to North Dorgenois Street, North Dorgenois Street to Allen Street, and Allen Street to North Rocheblave Street.

Residents are advised to stay out of the area as the standoff continues. Police have not said whether or not the barricaded suspect is armed.
