MADISONVILLE, LA (WGNO) — Saint Tammany Parish leaders as well as local legislators and other elected officials announced a plan to conduct four studies to evaluate traffic along Highway 22 in the area around the Tchefuncte River.
If you’ve spent any time in the area during rush hour, you know how congested the traffic can be.
Part of the work will involve the schedule for opening the bridge over the river for boat traffic. The bridge will remain closed during the 8:00 am, 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm hours. The schedule will be adjusted for overnight, weekends, and other times when car traffic in the area is low.
At the same time, three traffic studies will be conducted, including the use of a traffic light at Hwy 22 and Main Street instead of a four-way stop.
The work will begin on Monday, November 21. It’s expected to take about six months.
