WASHINGTON — House Majority Whip Steve Scalise will give his first on-camera interview since he was shot and critically injured in June.
The interview will appear on the Sunday night news magazine show 60 Minutes.
Scalise will be interviewed by CBS corespondent Norah O’Donnell.
Scalise, a Metairie Republican, was shot during a congressional baseball practice in Virginia in June when a gunman fired on the Republicans.
The bullet traveled toward his other hip, causing serious damage to bones, internal organs and blood vessels. He was in critical condition for several days and on the brink of death when he arrived at MedStar Washington Hospital. He has since undergone several surgeries to manage infections and other complications and is in an extensive rehabilitation program.
James Hodgkinson, the gunman, was killed in a shootout with police. Three others were wounded in the incident.
The interview is scheduled to air Sunday night 6 p.m.
