Still no formal charges in Jefferson Parish for teacher accused of having threesome with student and other teacher

GRETNA, La. (WGNO) – Another fast hearing Friday for former Destrehan High School Teacher Shelley Dufresne. She didn’t appear at Jefferson Parish Criminal Court, just her lawyer, and a judge pushed her court date back to July 30. She still doesn’t face any formal charges.

Dufresne and another teacher are accused of having a threesome with a teen student in September. Dufresne has already pleaded guilty in Saint Charles Parish to one felony count of obscenity in a case involving that same student. A judge ordered her to pay a one thousand dollar fine and serve three years probation. As part of her probation, Dufresne agreed to not contact the victim or his family, give up her teaching license and to enter into a 90-day inpatient facility for mental health treatment. If Dufresne fails to complete her probation, she could still be prosecuted on the carnal knowledge charge.

The other teacher involved in the group sex, Rachel Respess, has a court date here at Jefferson Parish Criminal Court next month.
