NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)- Sushi Fest is this weekend at the Lakefront Arena.  At Sushi Fest you can try a variety of rolls from some of New Orleans’ top Japanese restaurants.

One of those restaurants is Rock-n-Sake which specializes in delicious rolls.

News with a Twist Reporter Kenny Lopez wanted to learn how to roll sushi, so he went to sushi school at Rock-n-Sake with Chef Dirk Dantin.

“It’s not the easiest thing in the world to do.  I can’t show you in one day how to make the perfect sushi.  It’s just difficult.  You’ll need constant repetition.  It’s all about practice, practice, practice,”  he said.

For beginners, Chef Dirk recommends starting off slow by not adding a bunch of ingredients.

“The easiest rolls to roll are the spicy tuna roll or the snow crab roll, where you don’t have too many ingredients that will fall out,”  he said.

Chef Dirk is definitely at expert level when it comes to sushi rolling, so he makes such rolls as the “Salmon Zest Roll” and the “Red Dragon Roll”, which are must-haves to eat, but complex to make.

There are still General Admission tickets available for $15 in advance, and $25 at the door for Sushi Fest 2015.    Sushi Fest runs from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday at Lakefront Arena.

Flow Tribe will be providing the entertainment.   Sushi Fest is its second year.
