MARRERO, La. (WGNO) – A suspected leader of a violent gang with ties to cities around the United States was arrested Sunday in Marrero.
Shauntay Lamarr Craig, 38, was arrested at a home in the 1200 block of Michael Street.
Craig, with a last known address in Birmingham, Alabama, will be extradited to Atlanta.
Craig was wanted for his alleged role as a “board member” in the national Gangster Disciples gang.
The Gangster Disciples are believed to be responsible for numerous murders and robberies, in addition to extortion plots and drug trafficking throughout the United States.
Craig and 49 other suspected gang members were indicted earlier this year in federal courts in Atlanta and Memphis under the RICO Act. Craig was the only one who hadn’t been apprehended yet.
