NATALBANY, La. (WGNO) — For the second day in a row, sheriff’s deputies in Tangipahoa Parish are called to a homicide scene. Now, Sheriff Daniel Edwards is offering a $5,000 reward in the case — on top of any reward offered by Crime Stoppers — for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of whoever is responsible.
The first case happened on June 2. Deputies say two men were found shot to death inside of a car on Haynes Lane. About 24 hours later, the body of 18-year-old Marquise Lightfoot was found in a nearby yard on Jimmy Drive.
Deputies do not believe either case was a random attack. But they are uncertain at this point if there is any connection between the attacks. Also, the sheriff’s office believes that there are neighbors in the area who have information that could help the investigations move forward.
Along with Tangipahoa deputies, the Hammond Police Department, Louisiana State Police, and Homeland Security agents are also assisting with the case.
Tangipahoa Crime Stoppers can be reached at 1-800-554-JAIL (5245).
