METAIRIE, La. (WGNO) – The Causeway Commission wants commuters to know about Construction work on the bridge starting Tuesday night.
The construction, aimed at making the Causeway more storm resilient, will take place from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Delays and detours should be expected at these times.
Causeway executive say’s “Katrina was the first one that actually destroyed many of the old ramps at the 9 mile. We were able to replace those by canalizing parts. Issac came along and did it again.”
The plan is to move the cell towers to an extended crossover on the bridge. The extended crossover will have a higher elevation and a stronger structure. This will eliminate any potential from electrical failures, and cellular problems in the future.
