NEW ORLEANS — You have got to see it to believe it, and it isn’t hard to miss!
Neighbors say they aren’t sure where the traffic cone came from, but it appeared overnight earlier this week.
WGNO Photographer Cole Walker paid a visit to the 8-foot-tall traffic cone, located near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Constance Street, in the Irish Channel.
The cone was placed over of a large pothole, that was already guarded by smaller SWBNO cones.
Sewerage & Water Board Director of Communications Courtney T. Barnes says she is aware of three ordinary traffic cones at the site.
“In this instance, we received a call from a concerned customer for a depression in the street and according to the inspector notes, ‘three cones were left for protection.’ That is why you see SWBNO-branded cones.”
Barnes continued, “There is currently no open Sewerage and Water Board work order at the corner of the Washington Ave. and Constance Streets. It’s uncertain if the “street depression” represents a possible “break in the sewer line (which would be a Sewerage and Water Board issue) or a drain line (which would be a Department of Public Works issue).”
