KENNER, La. (WGNO) – Democrat John Bel Edwards beat Republican David Vitter in the governor’s race Saturday. But even so, Vitter’s supports are still standing by his side.
“I thought it was very gracious. I thought he was sincere,” one supporter told WGNO.
Vitter said he only lost one political campaign in his life. He told supports while he came up short they did not. “Thanks so much for your passion, and your dedication, and your love, and your hard work. We are so honored by that and we always will be. ”
Vitter also announced he will not seek re-election for U.S. Senator saying, he has reached his “personal term-limit.”
Vitter has one more year as U.S. Senator.
