(WGNO) — Businesses from around Texas and Louisiana are stepping up to help the families of police offices who have been hurt or killed in recent attacks.  If you’re looking for a way to contribute, stop by Cavender’s.

The boot retailer is offering people a chance to purchase a paper badge for $1, or more if you wish, at stores’ cash registers.  In Louisiana, Cavender’s has stores in Bossier City, Shreveport, Monroe, Denham Springs, Lafayette and Gretna.

The retailer says the money raised will go to the East Baton Rouge First Responders Fund, an organization formed in 1988 to help officers injured on the job and the families of those who have died.

Cavender’s promises to match the donation tally up to $5,000.
